Ad Blocking

I use Squid and an access control list to prevent access to certain sites from my computers. Most of the blocked sites are adverts, and I am constantly amazed at the sheer number of crappy adverts that can be squeezed into some pages.

There are a number of hosts files available (see this Wikipedia entry). I have combined as many of these as possible, and the result is a fairly comprehensive list of crap to ignore. One site boasts of over 100,000 hosts blocked. Well, I have more :)

If you want to make use of my banlist, you are more than welcome. Be aware that this is not a Windows HOSTS file, so DO NOT copy this over the top of yours!
